Single-origin green cardamom from Tanzania's Eastern Arc highlands
Green cardamom exporter shipping to spice buyers worldwide

Single-origin elaichi hand-picked in the Uluguru and Usambara mountains — cured to hold its green colour, screened from bold 8mm pods down to 6mm, lab-tested for moisture and volatile oil, and shipped FOB to spice buyers worldwide.
Three product families — whole green pods graded by size, decorticated cardamom seeds, and organic and specialty lots — each cured, lab-tested and packed to your specification.

Since 2010 we have worked as a wholesale supplier and exporter from Tanzania, buying green cardamom direct from smallholder growers in the Eastern Arc mountains — handling collection, curing, size grading, lab testing and export documentation in-house, so buyers get a clearer price and a known origin.
We buy direct from shade-garden growers in the Uluguru and Usambara mountains — every lot traceable to the highland origin it grew in.
Curing, grading, packing and export paperwork handled in-house — one accountable partner from garden to destination port.

Grown under shade on the Eastern Arc slopes of Morogoro and Tanga, hand-picked at three-quarter maturity across several rounds through the season.
Cured pods are sorted over screens into clean size bands — 8mm+ down to 6mm — with mixed and split pods separated out for value grades.

Independent laboratory analysis on every lot — moisture held at 10–12%, volatile-oil content, foreign matter and empty pods, tied to the shipped lot.
Packed in paper-lined cartons and vacuum kg packs that lock in green colour and essential oil across long ocean transits.

The bold Tanzanian pods land green and camphor-sweet, and the volatile-oil figure on the report matches what our own lab reads. For a house that has traded elaichi for two generations, that consistency earns a repeat contract.”
“Gahwa is judged on the cardamom. Our roasters want plump green pods that perfume the whole pot, and Afri Exports ships exactly that — cured for colour, never bleached. The pods arrive dry and fragrant through the Gulf summer, which is the hard part.”
“Scandinavian baking lives on cardamom, and freshness is everything — a tired pod gives you nothing in the dough. The decorticated seeds come vacuum-sealed with real oil in them, so our buns carry the aroma we promise on the label.”
“The pre-shipment sample is an honest picture of the lot, not a hand-picked showcase. What we approve for our chai masala is what clears the port. For a blender working to a fixed recipe, that reliability in sampling is worth more than a discount.”
Notes from the gardens, the curing sheds and the wider cardamom trade.
QualityGreen cardamom is bought on three numbers: pod size in millimetres, colour intensity and moisture. Here is what Extra Bold, Bold, Superior and Shipment grades mean, how the Indian AGEB/AGB/AGS names map to them, and how our Tanzanian grades line up.

BuyersGreen and black cardamom share a name and almost nothing else — different plants, different flavours, different kitchens. Here is what separates Elettaria from Amomum, which one belongs in chai, baking and Gulf coffee, and why we supply green.
